What’s the Big Deal With Abs, And What’s Brett Hoebel Going to Do About It?

Have you ever rolled your eyes when overhearing somebody boasting about their ‘six pack’? Have you ever been on an exercise bike in the gym and seen the countless people agonizing their way through crunches, faces blotchy and red, and wondered why people are so fixated on such a small group of muscles? If you’ve ever asked what’s with the ab obsession, than perhaps this article is for you as the dedicated Extreme Fitness Results team turns their eagle eyes to the issue and tries to determine: is the quest for killer abs an example of mere vanity, or does it reflect an awareness of essential basics?

First off, what are the abs? What do they do? How important are they for your day to day living? Are they vanity muscles like the biceps, or do they in fact perform some vital function? The abdominal muscles lie between the pelvic girdle and thorax, and are responsible for not only contracting the body between the two but cushioning and protecting the organs within the stomach. Most people make the mistake of fixating on the rectus abdominis muscles, the tradition ‘six’ or ‘eight pack’, and forget the other key muscles such as the external and internal oblique’s and the transversus abdominis. All of these muscles play a vital role in stabilizing your core, in providing deep inner strength and laying a foundation for all further workouts.

If you accept the crucial role that your abs play in stabilizing and centering your body, along with the vital function they have in protecting your organs, than it’s clear that exercising them is of fundamental value. The reason Brett Hoebel’s RevAbs Workout is guaranteed to be so successful is because he brings an advanced awareness of what is at play beneath the skin to his exercise routines. He doesn’t simply try to burn your rectus abdominis, but rather brings a wide range of deep penetrating exercise routines that focus on oblique’s, the transversus abdominis as well as the core eight pack.

Take Brett’s Side Plank, for example. He loves this move. You prop yourself up on one arm, body as straight as, well, a plank, forming a triangle with your arm, body and the ground. Even as you hold the position Brett fine tunes your stance, giving you advice, bringing your attention to the fact that it’s your abs that should be straining and not your shoulders, not your arms. He makes you hold it for a minute, and then allows you to relax. “Pay your dues,” he says with a wry smile. But what does this fundamental technique of his hit? That’s right – your oblique’s. From the deep lunges that he calls ‘striders’ to his ‘cobra’ wherein you lie stomach down and rear up your shoulders, chin tucked down, arms out to your side, Brett hits your abs from all directions, all angles, a routine that will result in his chiseled, ripped body.

So the next time you hear that guy going on and on about his eight pack, and how he’s going to do crunches till he pukes? Go ahead and roll your eyes. But when you see the Rev Abs followers pushing themselves through a series of well rounded and professional moves, nod your head. Those guys know the value of the core, and with Brett Hoebel’s professional advice, they’re gunning for the best of the fundamentals.
