Essential oils are also referred to as ethereal and volatile oils. These oils have strong scents and are very complicated in their composition. Leaves, roots, fruit, flowers and spices are all parts of what makes up essential oil composition. Usually, these oils are distilled before they are sold. You can purchase essential oils which have been processed through a solvent extraction or an expression method. Many oils are used when cosmetics or perfumes are created. It is very beneficial and important to be sure you are purchasing 100 organic oil for the best results.

Here are some helpful hints when it comes to shopping for essential oils:

Always buy your essential oils from sources that are reputable and from sellers who know their product ingredients. You should look for a sales person who is well known for selling these quality oils. Many times essential oils have been diluted which causes a very impure oil. Quality is greatly reduced when chemicals of any type are added to the composition. When it comes to your health, it is advised to use only pure oils. You can always ask the dealer whether or not the oils have been tested for effectiveness and pureness. There are special tests available for this. Many reputable dealers already have their oils tested to ensure quality. Buying an impure oil will only disappoint you and possible cause a negative reaction to your skin.

Your essential oils should always come in glass containers. Never buy any oil that is in a plastic or clear bottle. The glass bottle should also a dark color. Sunlight quickly ruins the composition of essential oils.

You should ask the seller about how high the quality is of the oil. Ask him or her where the oil came from. Ask about the specific botanical ingredients. If the seller is able to give you the correct answers, chances are that you are buying a quality essential oil full of quality ingredients.

Be cautious about any type of essential oil which is synthetic. Cucumber, Lilac, Rain, Strawberry or Carnation are usually synthetic oils. If you see these types of oils on the shelf, probably all of the other oils on the shelf are the same.

Be sure to check the purity content. Identify the many essential ingredients in the product and make sure they are pure. Try dripping a tad of the oil on a piece of paper to see if it immediately evaporates or if it doesn t. Most essential oils should evaporate immediately and not leave any type of oil residue behind. If there is a greasy residue, this means the oil is probably made of vegetable oil. Don t buy this product.

Any type of perfume oil, synthetic oil or fragrant oil are not essential oils. Never substitute one of these in place of a real essential oil especially when it comes to a health related issue. There is no therapeutic value to be found in an fragrant essential oil. Most fragrant oils cause allergic reactions to humans.
