Antioxidants are substances that work to stop the oxidation of the cell in your body. When cell oxidant they contribute to Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and aging. That’s why more and more doctors are telling their patients to get more antioxidants in there daily diet. There are many food out there that have antioxidants in them here are the top 6.

The best way to get your antioxidants is in berries. There not only a great source of antioxidants but they are full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries are rich in proanthocyanidins, antioxidant that can help prevent heart disease and cancer. Raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries contain ellagic acid (plant) that fights carcinogens. Another great benefit to blueberries they help delay the aging process.

Spinach. Yes when your mom told you when you where little to eat you spinach because it was good for you, well she was right. Spinach is an overall great food for your body because it’s loaded with lutein an antioxidant. It’s great for your vision. Many studies have shown that people who have spinach in their daily diet are less likely to develop muscular degeneration, cataracts, and heart disease.

Carrots, Yes good old carrots, they are loaded with a potent antioxidant called beta carotene. Just half a cup of cooked carrots contain 4 times the RDA of vitamin A (a form of protective beta carotene). It’s not really known if raw carrots are as nutrimental as cooked carrots because they body doesn’t break down raw carrots as well as cooked carrots. Beta carotene wards off cancers of the stomach, lungs, bladder, breast, and esophageal and protects against heart disease, and arthritis by as much as 70 percent.

Tomatoes are great for guys but also for women to. They have lycopene lots and lots of lycopene in them witch is good for guys because it has been shown that lycopene can lower the risk of prostate cancer. It also has been shown that lycopene can help prevent cancer of the lungs, breast, and colon. They also contain the antioxidant glutathione, which will help boost your immune system.

Broccoli and cruciferous vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower can help ward off and prevent heart disease. These vegetables contain a compound called, indole 3 carbinol, which is an antioxidant that breaks down estrogen in your body. Indole 3 carbinol reduces the risk of breast cancer, and ovaries and cervix cancer. Broccoli also contains beta carotene like in carrots that prevents heart disease and cancer.

Another great food that many have no herd of before is the mucadine grape seed. This has high levels of resveratrol in it that promotes antioxidant health by fighting against the affects of free radicals. This may help prevent allergies, gum disease, osteoporosis, birth defects, high blood pressure, crohn’s disease, diabetes, and other disease. A great source for mucadine grade seed is a supplement called Mucadine Grade Seed by Natural Health Labs. This product will give you all the benefits you need to fight free radicals.
